Mark Schiff

SPECIAL - Watch 2 Minutes of Mark Using Real Player! :

Mark Schiff is the driving force between "A Time to Laugh." He's a veteran of Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and every major comedy venue in the country. Hailed as one of the country's best comedians, Mark has starred in his own Showtime special, "My Crummy Childhood",and is developing his own pilot for NBC. Mark has had a recurring role on Mad About You, and will be seen opposite Mariel Hemingway in a new movie American Real slated for release later this year. He quips that he has come a long way from his first open mike years in New York City where "I played places even bacteria wouldn't go." Without cracking a smile, Mark can convulse audiences with his deadpan stories of real life. All of the Anshe Emes extended family would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark for assembling tonight's fantastic lineup of comedians and for his continued efforts on behalf of the community.

Jeff Rothpan
Jeff Rothpan is another regular from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno who joins our lineup. The Hollywood Reporter singled him out as one of the new faces to watch after the Montreal International Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in his native Canada. The Los Angeles Times commented that Jeff's dry wit and style were reminiscent of a young Johnny Carson. Rothpan is quick to point out that unlike Carson, he is Jewish.

Wayne Cotter
Wayne Cotter is one of the top stand up comics working the circuit today. Variety magazine has called him "notably original and spectacularly funny.. The funniest stand-up to come along in quite some time, and that's no joke." Wayne has appeared frequently with David Letterman and Jay Leno, and has a recurring role as a "roving reporter" for The Tonight Show. He hosted the Fox TV series Comic Strip Live and was recently in the film Spy Hard. Wayne is currently hosting The Learning Channel's series Amazing America, which is a light hearted look at different subcultures throughout the U.S.

Kenny Chernove

Kenny Chernove and his ten-fingered orchestra are proud to be part of "A Time to Laugh" for the fourth year. His musical talents are in demand for many events, including scoring theater and appearing in television commercials. He recently starred in a musical called "The Tax Revue." Besides a piano, Kenny's only request is that you all enjoy the show.

Ritch Shydner
Ritch Shydner is a familkiar featured performer on Late Night with David Letterman and THe Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He appeared in his own HBO special, and had supporting roles in Steve Martin's Roxanne and Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop II. He has honed his comedic skills as a writer for Rosanne and THe Jeff Foxworthy Show. Ritch claims to have worked very hard at avoiding work for twenty years.

Mendi Segal
Mendi Segal has perfected the art of "comic impressionism," stunning audiences with more than 80 difference voices. Mendi is sometimes known as "Bugsy Segal" due to his resounding success as the voice of Bugs Bunny on two Warner Brothers albums. He has done voices for Beetle Bailey and Sid & Marty Krofft's Comedy Kings with John Byner and Mickey Rooney. He has also appeared with Rich Little on KABC, as well as working for ABC, Hanna Barbera, King Features and HBO, doing dozens of cartoon character voices. He has done famous commercials appearing as the voices of George Bush, Jerry Seinfeld and Sylvester Stallone, to name a few.

Jim Brogan

Jimmy Brogan. After spending four years on the comedy circuit in New York, Jim got his first major break starring in an ABC sitcom called Out of the Blue. He is a veteran of the Tonight Show and Late Night with David Letterman, and has hosted Laffathon on Showtime, Comic Strip Live on Fox and You Asked for It Again on the Family Channel. Being a perfectionist, he says he won't be satisfied until he has been canceled by all the networks. He is currently working as an indentured servant on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Steve Mittleman
Steve Mittleman may be familiar to you from his co-starring role in the movie Roxanne with Steve Martin, as well as appearing in Woody Allen's Radio Days. Steve has had more than 100 stand-up television appearances including The Tonight Show and Late Night with David Letterman. Steve frequently appears on VH-1, MTV, Evening at the Improv, and he's been on Comedy Central so often, he's been named "Comic of the Year." He is a hilarious, likeable and spontaneous monologuist.

Elon Gold
Elon Gold is the star of a brand-new sitcom called You're the One. Gold hails from Brooklyn, but hit the comedy circuit while studying economics at Boston University. He has had numerous appearances on MTV comedy shows like Comikazi and the Half Hour Comedy Hour. He has also appeared on The Dana Carvey Show, Ned and Stacy, and projects on Nickelodeon and E! Entertainment Television.

Hiram Kasten

Hiram Kasten most recently appeared on the hit comedy Mad About You, had a regular supporting role in Seinfeld, and appeared on Aaron Spelling's Seventh Heaven. Hiram blends his unique style of modern stand-up comedy with the sharp traditional style of "the masters." He is in constant demand as an entertainer for corporate functions, and has an extensive list of sitcom appearances including All American Girl, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Vinnie and Bobby, Brookyn Bridge, Saved by the Bell, A&E's Evening at the Improv, Caroline's Comedy Hour and Howard Stern's radio show. Hiram emphasizes that he is honored to assist Rabbi Summers in this event as our host for the fourth year.
