| ANSHE
EMES -- FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) |
Join us for
services, lectures, children's programs or
special events! Anshe Emes was founded in
1948 with the philosophy that participation
makes a person a member of a synagogue, and
that we form more than a place to discharge
our obligations to G-d, but rather we fuse
ourselves into a community to bond to each
other as well. We invite your participation
and welcome your presence. PLUS there is a
form in the office for new members to fill
out, or fill out our online form,
so we can enter you into our database.
Membership dues are:
$850 per
family (2 seats for High Holiday
services and additional seats are
$150 each.)
$450 family
associate membership (without High
Holiday seats)
$450 per
individual (1 High Holiday seat)
NO ONE IS TURNED
AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS. Please
talk to Rabbi Summers directly with your individual
concerns.
2. How do I find out more about
lectures and special events?
3. How do I get involved?
There is a sign-up list on
the bulletin board in the entry hall of the
synagogue. Sign up or call the board members.
Please consult the Wish and the Volunteer lists.
Call first to be sure. But
usually, someone is in the office from 9 am
to 1 pm, Monday through Thursday.
Kiddush ($350 w/Cholent;
$200 w/o Cholent)
Standard shalosh seudos ($225)
Payment for kiddushim and shalosh seudos due one week
before event.
6. When can I reach the rabbi
with shailos?
Call the office between 9
am and 1 pm and leave a message. In an
emergency, Rabbi Summers can be paged. Email
sent to webmaster@anshe.org
will be forwarded to Rabbi
Summers by Aaron Gross, the webmaster.
7. Who makes the decisions at
Anshe Emes?
There is a board of directors,
an office staff, and members who volunteer to
help.
8. How do I make suggestions?
Call the board member who is
in charge of whatever area is of concern to
you.
9. How do I ask kashrus
questions?
Call Rabbi Eliezer Eidlitz, of
the Kosher Information Bureau. He can advise
you as to product information and which items
are currently kosher. Please use online
resources (Rabbi Eidlitz's webpage has an
EXTENSIVE searchable database.)
10. My employer has a
"matching funds" donation program for
charitable organizations? Can this help?
Anshe Emes is a
tax-deductible charity, and therefore is
qualified to receive matching funds from
corporate charitable donation programs.
11. Where is the keylim mikveh?
Anshe Emes has a
mikveh for utensils open during
daylight hours
located behind the shul with access through the gate
immediately north of the shul building. There is a mail drop for donations.
12. Where is the tape library?
Anshe Emes has a cassette
tape library which is open to the public when
the shul is open. For a list of tapes click here.
